COVID 19 ADAPTIVE PRACTICE (Click here to download)

Please read the following notes and let me know if you agree to receiving treatment from me - Amanda Cutler-Little

My adapted practice is to include all necessary steps to avoid coronavirus contamination. I will be taking precautions and will assume that anyone could be a carrier of the virus and act accordingly to sanitise or replace all equipment between clients and act to protect myself and my clients from contamination. I shall wear a protective face visor when in close proximity to my clients. It is not required for my clients to wear a facemask, but this is your choice. Within my adapted practice, I am able to treat all people considered at low risk and moderate risk. . I will be giving telephone consultations prior to your appointment, as wearing PPE makes longer communication harder and increases risk of contamination.

People at moderate risk from coronavirus (and who are allowed to go out to work, if applicable), include those who:

  • are 70 or older
  • have a lung condition that's not severe (such as asthma, COPD, emphysema or bronchitis)
  • have heart disease (such as heart failure)
  • have diabetes
  • have chronic kidney disease
  • have liver disease (such as hepatitis)
  • have a condition affecting the brain or nerves (such as Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy)
  • have a condition that means they have a high risk of getting infections
  • are taking medicine that can affect the immune system (such as low doses of steroids)
  • are very obese (a BMI of 40 or above)
  • are pregnant

Before treatment I must ensure that my client has not been tested positive for coronavirus in the last 14 days and you does not currently have any symptoms of the virus (including severe shortness of breath, a dry continuous cough, high temperature, loss of taste/smell).

In future I will make sure I document in my case notes the fact that I have discussed COVID-19 risks with you and I have explained the actions I have taken to mitigate these risks, and that the you have consented to receive treatment. If i have to postpone the treatment due to suspicion of COVID-19 in you, I will document this also. I do not need to ask you to sign a (printed) consent form if I make contemporaneous notes and document verbal consent clearly.

If you are visiting me at the Rudgwick Medical I will be in touch with their patient guidelines in the next couple of days with the up-to-date situation.

People at high risk from coronavirus, who I am unable to give a treatment to include those who:

  • have had an organ transplant
  • are having chemotherapy or antibody treatment for cancer, including immunotherapy
  • are having an intense course of radiotherapy (radical radiotherapy) for lung cancer
  • are having targeted cancer treatments that can affect the immune system (such as protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors)
  • have blood or bone marrow cancer (such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma)
  • have had a bone marrow or stem cell transplant in the past 6 months, or are still taking immunosuppressant medicine
  • have been told by a doctor they have a severe lung condition (such as cystic fibrosis, severe asthma or severe COPD)
  • have a condition that means they have a very high risk of getting infections (such as SCID or sickle cell)
  • are taking medicine that makes them much more likely to get infections (such as high doses of steroids or immunosuppressant medicine)
  • have a serious heart condition and are pregnant

Please do call me, or email me, if you have any queries on the above information.

Amanda Cutler-Little, Bowen therapist in West Sussex. Bowen Technique, Bowen Therapy and Bowen describe the light touch therapy devised by Tom Bowen in Australia. Bowen Therapy is holistic, treating the whole patient, not just symptoms and has been reported to be effective for conditions such as low back pain, sciatica, headache, migraine, asthma, shoulder pain, neck problems, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, RSI and other musculo-skeletal conditions. Bowen Therapy can often have a relaxing effect which may help people suffering from tension or stress syndromes.
